Privacy Policy
Billday is a bill organizer and paycheck calendar for iPhone and iPad, made by an independent developer. Your bills, amounts, notes and paycheck details never leave your device and your own iCloud account. There is no Billday account, no bank connection, no advertising and no tracking. Billday sends usage statistics tied to a random app-instance ID (section 3), which you can turn off in the app.
The developer responsible for this app is indiehack, an independent developer based in South Korea. Privacy officer: indiehack operator (support@indiehack.kr).
1. What you enter and where it is kept
Billday stores what you enter: bill names, amounts, categories, due dates and repeat rules, notes, which bills you marked paid or skipped and when, which paycheck you moved a bill to, and your pay schedule and take-home pay. It is used only to show your plan, reminders and widgets.
- On your device: in the app's storage, shared with Billday's own widgets on the same device.
- In your iCloud: if you are signed in to iCloud, Billday syncs this data through your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) so it appears on your other devices. Only your Apple Account can read it; the developer cannot see it. You can turn it off in iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud.
- Backup files: Billday writes a backup file once on each day you open the app (the last 14 are kept) in Files › On My iPhone › Billday and, when iCloud Drive is on, a copy in iCloud Drive › Billday. Restoring a backup first saves your current data as another backup.
- Files you choose: CSV files you import or export, and backups you share, go only where you send them.
Small settings are also kept on your device: reminder times, which tips and one-time screens you have seen, whether usage statistics are on, and when the app last asked for a rating. Deleting the app deletes the data on that device; data in your iCloud stays until you delete it in iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
2. Reminders
Reminders are local notifications scheduled by iOS on your device. Bill reminders include the bill's name and amount so you can act on them, and an optional payday notice tells you when a paycheck arrives. Neither is ever sent through a server. You can change them in Billday › Settings › Reminders or turn them off in iPhone Settings › Notifications › Billday.
3. Usage statistics
To find bugs and see which features are used, Billday uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Remote Config (Google LLC, USA). If your device's region is set to a country in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, they are off until you turn them on; elsewhere they are on by default. You can change this any time in Billday › Settings › Share usage stats. While it is off the app sends no usage statistics (apart from one final “turned off” event when you switch it off) and no longer contacts Firebase on later launches. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland our legal basis is your consent (turning the setting on), which you can withdraw with the same switch. Elsewhere it is our legitimate interest in fixing bugs and improving the app; the data is pseudonymous (tied to a random app-instance ID, not to your name or Apple ID) and can be switched off.
What is sent:
- App events such as “onboarding complete”, “bill added”, “bill paid”, “paychecks viewed” or “CSV imported”, with counts only (for example, how many bills you have, or whether a bill was marked paid in the app or from a widget or notification).
- Basic device and app details that Firebase collects automatically (device model, iOS version, app version, language), a random app-instance identifier created by Firebase, an approximate country or region that Google derives from your IP address, and a label for how the app was installed (App Store or TestFlight).
What is never sent: bill names, amounts, notes, categories, due dates, your pay schedule or pay amount, file contents, your name, email or contacts. Firebase advertising features and ad personalization are turned off and Billday does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
While statistics are on, the app also downloads app settings from Firebase Remote Config (for example, how many bills the free plan includes) so they can change without an update. This request sends the same random identifier and device details, and nothing else.
Google processes this data on our behalf under the Firebase privacy terms, and may process it in the United States under the safeguards described there. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted.
4. Purchases
This version of Billday has no purchases; every feature is free. If Billday Pro is offered in a later version, purchases will be processed by Apple; the developer never receives your payment details or Apple Account information, and this policy will be updated before that version is released.
5. This website
This website (billday.indiehack.kr) is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA), which processes standard connection information such as your IP address to serve pages. It uses Google Analytics to count visits, with advertising storage turned off; in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland analytics cookies are not set. The site has no forms and no other cookies.
6. Your rights and children
Your bills are under your control: edit or delete them in the app, delete backup files in the Files app, and delete iCloud data in iPhone Settings. Because usage statistics are tied only to a random app-instance ID, we cannot look up a specific person's data without it; the easiest way to stop them is the toggle in section 3, and deleting the app removes the local identifier. You can ask us about access, correction, deletion or objection at the address below, and if you are in the EU or UK you may complain to your local data protection authority. Billday is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If the app starts collecting a new kind of data, this page will say what, why and how to turn it off before that version is released.
